The Broadway Capitol Theatre used to have a Sunday morning radio broadcast on WJR from it. It was all local talent and I remember one little girl who used to dance and sing on that show - her name was Dorothy Carson. When I was a child I used to never miss this broadcast and it was quite popular maybe in the 40s - I am guessing. What a great website this is - especially for 89 year old folk like me. I worked as a teller at the Industrial National Bank on Woodward and the Boulevard.

Changed name to the Broadway Capitol in the 1950's and maintained a solid venue of Sci-Fi Horror Movies through the 60's. They even had a Premier showing of the TINGLER, where some of the seats were rigged with motors to create a vibrating sensation.

I believe it was also known as the Broadway Capitol ; I used to go to downtown Detroit to see the B movies i. e. Trantula and the bug horror movies in this theatre.
