My father, Gordon Bennett operated the theater from his father's purchase date, until the theater was sold in the late 1970's. It was transformed briefly into a dinner theater offering dinner, alcoholic beverages, and even had a dance floor.

The Hastings 4 has underwent some changes over the years, as you can see from the photo from the 1940's when it was known as the Strand. Interesting that the marquee has the display panel attached underneath the facade, that would seem to limit the visibility of what was showing to only the pedestrians on the sidewalk. In case you were wondering, the film showing at the time this old photo was taken was Maryland with Walter Brennan, released in 1940.
